Alex & Alyssa are quite possibly two of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever meet. This was apparent from my very first meeting with Alyssa. She was thoughtful, warm, and welcoming, and we instantly bonded over our love for cats! Their engagement session was no exception, and from that moment on, I was counting down the days until their big day. Alex & Alyssa were planning a traditional, yet fun and relaxed day. With their ceremony at the historic Bethel Lutheran Church in downtown Madison and reception at the ever-so-gorgeous Lake Windsor Country Club, their day was built to be beautiful. Donned in an array of jewel tones, Alyssa's bridesmaids carried luscious bouquets of roses and succulents, while the men were dapper in black ties and tuxedos. It's safe to say that this wedding party was dressed to impress!
Alex & Alyssa opted to do a First Look, which allowed them to spend some alone time before the ceremony. I am such a big fan of First Looks (check out my reasons here)! After their ceremony, we made the short trip to the State Capitol, the same place where we started their engagement session. As Madisonians, we are so incredibly lucky to have this landmark in our backyard. The State Capitol is so absolutely stunning, and no matter how many times I've shot there, it never seems old or repetitive. The State Capitol offers so many different options for pictures, which is why on an given Saturday, you will find dozens of wedding parties there! As we made our way to Lake Windsor Country Club, we were able to finish the wedding party and bride and groom portraits during my favorite time of day, golden hour. This soft, diffused light is truly my absolute favorite, and as a photographer, you long for this light and take advantage of it any chance you can. After spending the day with these two and those closest to them, it's easy to see the love between them, a love that is raw and honest and everlasting. Thank you Alex & Alyssa for sharing your day with us!
Meet the new Mr. & Mrs. Milsap!
